Ellis and Neckbone find a guy near the Mississippi river who they call Mud (which is also the title of the movie). Mud (Matthew McConnaugheuy) tells the two boys that he’s a fugitive on the run from vengeful bounty hunters and that the love of his life – Juniper (Reese Witherspoon) – is in town. The two boys try to help Mud escape.
