My camp hat has been hung up snuggly and barely with enough time to breath, it is time to take another hat off of the peg. This is the school hat. Of course, I have done nothing to get ready for me or for my kids (I’m in grad school), but I’ve taken the day off on Monday just so I can have a couple of good days to prepare.
It sounds funny to prepare for school. Seriously, when I was a kid, you just showed up on the 1st day possibly wearing a new outfit, holding on to a new lunchbox (made out of metal) and maybe donning a new backpack, too. Nowadays, there are mile-long shopping lists, meet your teacher days, curriculum nights, back to school pizza parties, and so on and so on. It’s at least a one week process, and if you count all of the shopping you need to do, you could easily spread it out over a couple of weeks. It’s crazy.
So, even though I’m still in my jammies at 10 am, the laziness cannot last for long. Let the next change begin…
