The Front Garden area of the Lang Farm (Also known as The Barn at Lang Farm)
Well, this morning has been a long one. First of all I woke up at 5AM and fed the cats, took care of some stuff I was weeding out, gathered my bags I needed and headed over to the grocery store. Love that they are always open. I needed more packing tape for my packages and two grocery stores this morning were out of stock.
So instead, I got some parmesean cheese and a soda, got back to the car and it was still to early to get to the kids house. I try not to get there before 6AM, but I like to get there early so I see all the kids before they head off to school. So, I stayed in my car outside the grocery store and finished sewing up the binding of my knitted skirt waistline. Yay. Then got to kids house and finished pulling my pink ribbon through the bottom of the skirt and I brought it outside with me to show my friend.
Jennifer Jo Fay Photography
Yay! The skirt is done! Dec-now. Wait, I forgot I still have to add my purple and pink seed beads. Fooled you.

The roses that surprised me today! You think you are going to wake up to one thing and then are treated to nature's beauty. Look all around you. It's just waiting for a new discovery around every corner.
And the girls and I were waiting for the bus. I had my camera with me and called out Julia's name and she turned and I snapped quick. I caught a little bit of her hair flying forward and the picture came out neat.
It has also been a morning for taking photographs. My first surprise was seeing my red roses blooming over the old purple fence as we were crossing the street.
Later on, I wrapped packages and went out in search of yard sales. Nothing. Everyone is waiting for Saturday.
So, instead I took lots of pictures. I usually love to take flower pictures and stop on the side of the road and take my flower pictures. And if there happens to be a person nearby, I ask them if they don't mind if I take pictures of their flowers. But if nobody is there, I just take my pictures. Most people don't mind if someone takes pictures of their flowers.

This one is of a model that another local shop, I'm thinking Paisley's on your way to Five Corner's in the Junction displays outside her shop on nice days. I've driven by a bunch of times and stopped to take pictures of her mannequin. I love seeing how she decides to fashion her. Maybe this has to sometime be another post and I will go down and get her card and get her link to put on the post and share with her. My blog is becoming more popular and could someday be successful and it would probably help any business getting the word spread more about their businesses. And in the process, I would simply get cool pictures for myself to share with everyone.
I've got to check my older pictures. She might have gotten a new mannequin.
And I've been waiting to get my application processed with Istockphoto again. They wanted me to re submit my pictures in three days. I sent them all flower pictures and they wanted to see more of a variety of different things.
Which now brings me to the other types of pictures I took today. I was driving by one of our local antique shops, Five Corners Antiques in Essex Jct. VT. I thought I might be able to get some different types of shots in there. So I started taking pictures and met the shop owner who was very nice. I let him know about my blog and exchanged cards so he can check out the blog and see the cool pictures I took of their items.
All these pictures are taken at FIVE CORNERS ANTIQUES
Enjoy!

Everyone loves a Raggedy Ann doll. I had one as a kid and have owned more than one. The little bear, looks like a Boyd's bear, but I'm not sure which type she actually is.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
This is what many women flock to. We all love sweet little accessories. Old perfume bottles and other beautiful things to put on our vanity dressers or anywhere special in the house. I didn't take a close look at the picture of the girl, but I was thinking it could be a mirror or something like that. I should have checked to see if it had a handle. And these are items definitely for the HOPELESS ROMANTIC. I'm one of them!
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A really lovely old fashioned chair. I love old chairs. I've got a pretty purple one that I love. They are great for pictures.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A beautiful picture of an old fashioned straw hat. These are really pretty. I have several of these types of hats. I had a gorgeous one with pink flowers that was my favorite and one of the best pictures of me was with it. But my cats got to it one year. Darn it!!
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A close up.
A close up of an old fashioned typewriter. I took this one of the keys for future use on some of my posts on blogging. This was really cool. I took a few pictures of it. The other one is a close up too with some of the other letters. It could also be used on a post to inspire us when we get sick with WRITER'S BLOCK!!! I really need to be able to find these things more often to be able to take my own pictures for some of the posts. I've sometimes had to rely on Google Images or something for some of my posts, but I really love having mine on here more.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
This one was of a lovely old fashioned clock. Now, I will have a good old fashioned picture to put on posts, when I want to discuss the matter of time. Time is precious. Let's not waste it.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
This I loved the visuals. The atmosphere means everything to a shop or any business. It has to be inviting, so people will want to linger.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
I love the really old baby carriage. Just think, years ago a precious life was contained in this. It would be cute with new baby in it for pictures. I'm done though. I've had the four, two girls and two boys and I'm done. I've thought about it though, that it would be fun to have one again just for the experience and then I have to put that imaginary gun to my head and say, "Not on your life. Been there done that."
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A pretty antique handmade rag doll. I love how she was put inside a basket. Very fun and creative.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
close up. I might draw from this one sometime and add some flowers to the artwork.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A pretty tea set. Wouldn't you love to have a tea set like this resting on your table when your well loved family and friends come over for good company and good tea and sweets? I know I would. And you can be sure that you can find these types of things at both shops.
A pretty antique doll. I remember some of these when I was growing up. My mom and my friend's mom would let us play with them and all their old ones too. My mom made the mistake of giving them to me too soon and I wrecked them. Her's were the older hard plastic walker dolls. I love dolls.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
Another pretty doll with a dog sitting in a little antique chair. I think I had one of those kind of dolls when I was younger. My mom gave me one that had my name and it has a gold key to place into the doll and turn for the music. I still have her and will never part with her.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
Another pretty little doll in a carriage.

Remember all these old phones? Wouldn't you love to have one of these? Nothing like something from the blast from the past. Makes me think of the old fashioned Pink Princess phone. E.T. Phone Home. Okay, now you know when I grew up. I'm a seventies child. Actually born in 1968. Did anyone know that 1968 was the year that 911 was started? I discovered that this year from one of those cards with my year on it.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
This was a larger piece of furniture with some of their nice gourmet foods. Just imagine a pantry stocked with all good things!!! You bet. I love a pantry.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A pretty doll. She's looking like she might be a hard plastic antique doll. I don't think she's composition. I'm not sure. These dolls are great. I got lucky and found an old Toni doll at a yard sale a few weeks ago. I cleaned her up and I might later knit some outfits. She can be my model for them and I will put some in my etsy shop.

I think dried flowers and herbs always look lovely in a shop or anywhere. I've got some roses from earlier in the year hanging in the kids dining room.

A really cute set up
Now, both of these Antique Shops are really great places to visit. I will talk about Five Corners Antiques first as that was my first stop. I've been there several times before and bought some dolls, and I have a cute antique teddy bear I have. I felt bad as I had to sell one of the dolls earlier this year as I had the terrible car problems and now am facing having to get a new car at some point. And if I had the extra money like I did last year, I would have come out of both places today with a purchase. I'm hoping to get caught up by end of summer and I might be able to splurge a little. But for now, I can just yard sale and that's it.
The Five Corner's Antiques shop is really cool. It's a big old fashioned red building and the antiques store is upstairs. Downstairs there is all kinds of really nice furniture. I bought a really pretty standing mirror in that section last year.
So you walk up old fashioned stairs and you feel as if you have passed through a portal in time. How many of you have spent hours sifting through antique stores? I'm one and my boyfriend loves them too. He loves to collect old fashioned bottles and old postcards.
We went to one in New Hampshire last year and it was so fun to look through the old postcards. I found one of Old Orchard Beach, Maine and Deering Oaks Park in Portland, Maine. My old haunts.
Five Corners Antiques has all these little sections with something new everywhere you turn. There's old linens, dolls, old furniture, hats, antique quilts, knitted and crocheted stuff from the past, silverware, old fashioned magazines, and all kinds of other things that you can find in an antique store that you can't find hardly anywhere else.
I just went to their website to check it out. I didn't realize that they have been around for 15 years. That's a long time. I guess I wasn't aware of them until two or three years ago. I forgot, they also have a nice selection of local gourmet foods that's nice to leave the shop with. Maple syrup or jams and jellies or other tasty items to bring home to your pantry. Yum!
You certainly will never find any of it in a modern store. People love to walk into an antique store for practically any reason. Maybe they are looking for a certain item, collect a certain thing and can never have enough of it. We're always on the search for the new best thing that we just have to have.
For me it's dolls and pretty things. For my dad it is old baseball cards. Once, he had a whole box of baseball cards and his mother made him give them away to the neighbor's sons. He got so mad at her years later when suddenly they were worth a lot of money. And then over the years he bought some of them back from antique shops and his sister would buy him a few of them at Christmas time.
Five Corner's Antiques is a good sized shop so when you plan to come, you will need to take your time so you don't miss a thing. Sometimes, it's just fun to walk through to get reminded of our past that we can never get back, except from an antique shop or some other place that sells old fashioned stuff.
Things are hard to find today in our modern world. The day and age of the computer. My dad never had one, didn't know how to work a coffee machine, never mind doing the laundry. That's why when my mother died, she left an instruction book for him. He was from the past, when the women did all the household stuff.
Five Corner's Antiques also has very reasonable prices on their stuff. I was even looking at one of their displays on the wall today. It was a collection of four Norman Rockwell plates displaying his popular swing pictures and a few others. The whole set sells for $48. That's a very reasonable price.
So definitely pay a visit to their shop. You won't be disappointed. And you very possibly could walk out with some new cherished treasures.
I love my dolls and teddy bear. And one of these days I'm going to draw some pictures from the photos and my purchases.
Enjoy my photos of their stuff. I didn't think to take a big picture of the outside shop, but once you get to their site it will be there with directions of how to get there and everything you need to know about their shop. They are there to serve you and welcome everyone.

THE BARN AT LANG FARM
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
Their house in front of the Lang Farm
Okay, now the next antique store, Lang Farm. They do have an antique shop, but that isn't the first thing that their business has been about. For years, they have been Lang Farm Nurseries. I can't tell you how many times I have been there to buy plants. And for years they also had a little shop that is connected to the nursery and it has lots of little things in it. Whoops, that shop was before the Antique shop. That part isn't there anymore, as they have changed a lot over the years.
It's a gorgeous place to visit, so visually stimulating. For years I have been there with my kids. They also have a big garden shop in their barn across the way from their antique store. And an abundance of beautiful plants outside and in their greenhouses. The whole landscape of the Lang Farm is so beautiful.
Also, a new thing within perhaps the last four or five years (not sure of the exact date), they have expanded their business and you can choose to have your wedding reception there. Maybe even have the actual service there too. I'm not sure on that part. The reception area is above the antique shop. It's a huge building.

Lang Farm Antiques
So years ago, I used to take my boys to buy my plants. There used to be a small little playground for the kids to play. It's definitely a great place to take your kids. Mine loved it. I even remember some events that were held there. A Halloween maze with all the hay bails on it and we could walk through a dark area. The boys used to take field trips there and I tagged along.
Another event they had was another fall time fun day for kids. I remember my oldest son getting a pony ride when he was a few years old. I don't even think I had Jake at the time.
Then, I would take the girls to buy flowers and they would help me pick them out.
In later years, before the antique shop was there, for a few years they let The Essex Art League have a fall time or holiday show there for at least a few years. I was part of it each year.
But the first year was special, as I had never been a part of something like that before. At this time, the floor was all cement and wide open. We went in and started setting up all our little displays. I remember the night before setting up, I was up so late gathering everything together and listening to Richard Clayderman while putting my stickers on my flower photographs and getting all my paper dolls and artwork ready. But I was still behind in what I needed to do.
I remember getting there that day and I was sitting on the floor in one of my skirts with all the photographs and paper dolls and artwork scattered around me. As I was busy doing this, one of the local TV reporters came in with his camera and started interviewing people. I was still quite busy with stuff, and at the same time, I was in turmoil in my marriage.
I can remember being in their talking to some of the other women artists about it and one of them gave me some numbers to call. So I remember being in that big room being on the phone with battered women. I was emotionally abused, which is just as bad as the other.
So, when the reporter came over to me, he started taking photographs of me, and I kind of looked at him, but felt so far away at the same time. Later on, my mother n law said that my picture was in the paper, but she forgot to cut it out. I was kind of upset that she didn't think to clip it out for me to see. But I never saw it. Oh, well. I bet it was pretty. At the time, I had wanted to get a copy from the newspaper, but didn't know how to go about it. Okay, he probably was from the newspapers.
So, we got to have our show in there for a few years and then they turned it into the antique shop. I'm thinking it has been there for at least four years, maybe longer. I will have to think back to the years we did the shows.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
a lovely close up flower. I think these must be peonies as they are in season and I have some white ones growing. But mine are done.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A very nice statue. I am so taking this one into one of my photo software later and having some fun with it. I love Gothic pictures so I might create an atmosphere for this one.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A lovely photograph of the pretty landscape. This is just part of the beauty. And this photo is going to get a spooky Gothic version too!!!
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
Peonies Lingering for another Tomorrow
to savor another day in the dance
and to sleep with the moon
and dream for beauty within
and to just live
as who knows what tomorrow holds.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
Another pretty pink peony. Maybe Sarah Bernhardt? Shop their gardens and bring one home. When I move down in a few years with my boyfriend, I'm going to buy one to plant at his house. He wants us to wait a few years as he doesn't want me taking off on the kids. I'd be able to see them three days a week, but not every day like right now. He's seeing that my girls are still young and he thinks in a few years when they are teenagers, they will be more to their friends.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A squirrel that I caught in one of their trees. This is the animal I caught today. I had wished I had had my camera ready this morning when I took my trash to the dumpster. There was a raccoon waiting inside and I couldn't lift the cover so he could get out. It's not the first time I've caught one in there. They left the cover open before and I caught sight of one. Scared the crap out of me for a minute each time.
Jennifer Jo Fay Photography
More of their garden items to choose from.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
This is their garden shop. I love the chairs on the side.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
I love seeing flowers in pretty chairs.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
I love seeing pretty flowers in containers.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
Lovely items on their front porch to the antique shop. Wouldn't you love a pretty table like that with flowers on top? And if they were roses, life would be perfect. We should have roses and flowers every day. Don't you wish every day smelled like a rose? We should make it a point to have flowers in our lives often.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A lovely close up of two antique wicker chairs. I love wicker chairs. I've got one. I made the mistake of having mine in the back yard of our complex and the neighbors abused part of it,, so I rescued it and pulled it inside. I think in August I'm going to get some white paint and repair it.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
Another pretty wicker chair. Love the flowers in it.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
Another pretty set up. I like the added little green chair for a pop of color.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A close up of the flowers in the wicker chair.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A close up of flowers in pots.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
An arrangement of dried flowers inside the antique shop.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
More pretty chairs and pillows. Are your kids ready for a pillow fight? Go get some. But get the big ones for them and the pretty ones for you.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
More lovely furniture! Wouldn't it look great in your house!!
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A lovely quilt is always a nice edition to a sofa or a bed.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A fun pig. It would make a cute gift for someone.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A beautiful antique doll. If I had the extra money she would have been coming home with me. I am so making another photo from this one with my photo software. Gothic and spooky! Or adding an overlay of flowers.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A pretty close up of the doll. I might do a drawing from this one. Or one of my paper dolls could be inspired by her.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A pretty dress or nightgown? I didn't look super close, but it's looking like a nightgown or an antique dress. That stuff is in fashion. Women love vintage clothing. Victorian Papers Catalog is another really neat source for vintage clothing. Although, their stuff is very expensive. I remember some of the dresses were easily $400 dollars. Not in my pocket.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A group of pretty vases. Antique shops are chock full with pretty items that are just begging for us to bring them home.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A beautiful chair to beckon you to sit in it and bring it home.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
More wonderful items to have in your house.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
An old fashioned sewing machine is hard to find. I wish I still had my grammy's machine, but I put the pedal to the metal to that thing so many times and had it repaired until it was on it's last legs.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
More pretty outfits. I like the one with the flowers on it.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
An eclectic set of vases and goblets with a view of more of the gardens in the background.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A cute teddy bear having tea. He's just waiting for that doll to walk on over and have play time with him. Did you ever think that your toys could talk? I did.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
Candid Camera? Ha ha.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
More really pretty vintage outfits. I moved this picture over by accident while typing. I didn't know I could do that. I bet I must be able to type along the side if I wanted. I will have to play around with that in another post.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A really cute porcelain or ceramic figure.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
A view of the length of their shop. And this is just one section.
So, anyway, when you walk into their antique shop, you will find another great selection of gorgeous antiques. It's a different feel to it than, the other shop, but both are just as great to walk through. Now, we wouldn't want all antique shops to be exactly the same. That would be boring. Each shop is unique in it's own way and is very appealing to the public.
There are quite a lot of lovely antiques in there. I think there are similar antiques in both shops, but each piece is different. You really have to go to every shop, as you never know when you are going to find exactly what you are looking for or didn't need but love it anyway and it is going to end up in your hands. You just have to have it.
If you walk away and come back later, it might be gone. They're always changing. And also, the prices at Lang Farm are very reasonable too. And it all depends on what you are looking for. You can come out with something for $10 or $20 bucks or something more expensive. It just depends on what the item is and what it's value is.
Both shops are very visually stimulating. And I encourage you to come visit Vermont and make both of these shops a part of your itinerary.
And one thing I have learned about today, is I need to ask from now on if I can take pictures. At Lang Farm I was taking pictures at their lower part of the farm first and making my way up. I was just photographing her flowers and trees in the front yard and slowly making my way up. I knew I would ask her for permission once I saw her, but she was far away and I just got taking pictures and made my way up. And then she came up to me and started talking. And then I realized I probably should have asked first.
But most of the time, when people see you taking pictures of their flowers, they usually don't mind. That has mostly been what I was taking pictures of. Last year I did the same thing outside the shop, but nobody said anything to me last year. But, from now on when I actually go inside a business I will be asking first and explain what it's for. Learn something new every day.
So please come explore Vermont and all it's beauty and it's awesome antique shops.

These are some of my photographs from around town today.

This one was on the way towards Maple Street Park. Gorgeous.

This one was heading out to Williston this morning.

This one was back at my apartment in my studio. The little chair I bought at Lang Farm a few years ago. I love it and I hope I someday have little grandchildren sitting in it. And here's my old childhood Raggedy Ann. She plays Fr ere Jacques.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
My pretty vintage necklace I got at Lang Farm last year. I'm going to wear it as part of my Halloween costume this year. If I thought of it I should have found the teddy bear I got at Five Corners Antiques, but I didn't think to dig it out. He's hiding somewhere.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
My Siamese cat, Luna. She wanted in on the action.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
My Siamese Tortie Point, Ella. She's a little blurry. Cat's are so hard to take a picture of as they seem to not stay in place. But I wanted to show both of them. I had two others but had to get rid of them. Too many. But they were cute. And my boyfriend has two, so someday I will be back to four.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
My finished skirt, just about. I decided to put it on my torso mannequin. I use the mannequin for selling my outfits on Ebay. This one isn't cropped yet, but usually when I upload them to Ebay, I can crop them there.
Jennifer Jo Fay Fancy Photography
This one was on my way to Williston. I asked the person who lived there if I could photograph his two yellow Adirondack chairs, but when I got closer, the chairs didn't look to be in very good condition, so I chose to photograph this instead.
I might decide to explore some other places sometime. Flowers are my specialty, but I need to expand my variety of stuff. That's what Istockphoto wants. We'll see what happens with that.
And as far as the blogging goes, I think all I want is to blog because I love it. Whether I make money at it or not. Same with the photography and the art and writing. I do it all because I just love it. I've made some money at it too, but I really don't do it for money.
When you are born with a passion in your veins, you just do it because it's a part of you. Whether you're an artist, writer or photographer like me or an entrepreneur of any type of business or for that matter, whatever you do, it stems for your main goal from starting something from the ground up. And just to do it and share.
My goal is to have this blog, become so popular that people all over the world flock to it, just to know me, read my stories, novels, poetry, articles and any other type of thing I choose to share. I've also got my new novels in progress here. Which I need to do new chapters at some point.
Maybe I will write more on the Glorious Money Tree later. I've got it on other posts here in progress. I'm onto chapter Seven I think.
The Thief Who Wouldn't Learn is still waiting for me to come back to it. You can only do so much in a day.
This post took a while to do. I think I'm done.
One of my next ones will be on the Miss USA controversy as someone has requested it.
And I am crossing my fingers that I get to write for a site. I'm just waiting right now. But it would be really fun to be able to get a shot at writing for a column. I would absolutely love to write for a Journal one. I think I could do well with it.
