Confessing How to Get Back into That #Row80 Saddle... and Actually DOING It

Posted on the 06 February 2013 by Juliejordanscott @juliejordanscot

Rsz_row80logocopyI could pretend I am really oh so smart and it takes absolutely no effort to get back on writing track after I have derailed myself yet again.

That wouldn’t be truthful, though. It wouldn’t feel like I am honoring the Row80 code of conduct!

What I will say is “It feels good to be back on track.”

Here’s what I noticed about what happened as I careened around the curve and fell decidedly on the other side of where I wanted to be, writing & row80 wise.

  1. I have a tendency to do the “all or nothing” thing. If I am slacking on one goal, it tends to impact other goals. Sort of like when you eat a candy bar in the middle of the day when you’re dieting. You know as well as I do, it is better to dust yourself off, pick up your pencil and keep moving, even if you have to trick yourself into it.
  2. Another No-No is if I have nothing good to report, I just don’t check in at all. This can lead to weeks of not checking in which leads to dropping from the Row80 radar completely. I did this last year. I’m not doing it again. I have gotten more inspiration this week from reading people NOT complete their goals then those who DID complete their goals.
  3. I forget ROW80 is for people who have a life. I am allowed to change my goals mid-week, mid-day even mid-hour if I want. That old adage “How’s that working for you?” isn’t a snide question around here, it is a daily personal check in that works.

On Sunday I will be reporting the specific facts and figures of my ROW80 life. On Wednesdays I post about how I am being as a writer rather than how I am doing as a writer. Take a deep breath now and remember we do this because we love to write.

See you Sunday!
