One of the most difficult things that I completely fail at doing in my crazy mixed up scheduled life is nurturing my friendships. My life is so hectic between my kids and their activities and my work and all of the extracurricular stuff that I do that I have very little time left over for just hanging out with my girlfriends. I forget how important this is until I see them and get to catch up.
Yesterday I ended up at one of my daughter’s friends birthday parties. It just so happened that this party was attended by kids whose Moms are all friends. My daughter was going home with the birthday girl after the party, and her mother said at the beginning, “You don’t have to stay if you don’t want to since she’s coming home with us.”
I found myself in a circle of friends I hadn’t seen for awhile though, and it just felt so good to hang with them. Who knew that I’d have as good of a time at that party then my daughter did? I ended up staying for the whole thing even though I didn’t really have to be there.
