Greetings!

The Diamond of the Week award goes to:

Diamond of the Week (12/20/2013)

Matt Walsh

Diamond of the Week (12/20/2013)

For those of you that don’t know (and I just found out recently myself), Matt Walsh was a radio personality for WLAP in Lexington, Kentucky for several years. Well, he decided not to renew his contract with the radio station because he wanted to pursue other things. Although I don’t live in Kentucky and I haven’t had the opportunity to check out his show on WLAP, I do follow his blog @ www.themattwalshblog.com and for the most part, I absolutely find his opinion on various topics to be quite thought provoking. Although I have my own opinion to many things, I like that fact that I’m able to go to his blog and think see a different perspective on topics that makes me think. I love visiting a person’s blog and learn something new that I’ve never thought of. That’s what keeps my interest.

So although he’s leaving WLAP and I’m sure that many of his listeners are upset with that, I’m glad that I’m able to check out his blog and find out what he thinks about certain things. Furthermore, I like that fact that I was able to check out his most recent post and get so amped up that I feel like I can take on the world simply because of what he said that made a lot of sense. Here’s a two-paragraph quote from him (yes, I know it’s long..but it’s worth it:

“Take risks. Big risks. Smart risks. I’m not talking about drunk driving or running naked in the snow, I’m talking about going out on a limb to achieve your goals. I’m talking about venturing into unknown territory with no safety net, no fallback plan, no cushion, and nobody holding your hand. You’ll never do anything important if you care more about having fun and being comfortable. Period. It won’t happen. There’s time for fun and comfort, but not now. Not when we’re young and have so much to do. I don’t say this because I’m some huge success story; I say it because I’m not. Not yet, anyway. I say it because I’m in the thick of it, too. I say it because my heart breaks every time I meet a person younger than me who has no ambition. So often I speak to someone like this, they tell me what they want to do in life, I tell them, “well, go do it then,” and they come back with the “yeah, but..” Stop it. No buts. Nobody cares about your excuses. Move across the country if you have to. Live out of your car if it’s necessary. Work six jobs if that’s what it takes. Eat one meal a day if it comes to that. Do what needs to be done. STOP FOLLOWING THE PATH THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE LAID FOR YOU. Blaze your own trail. Make a sacrifice. Struggle. Sweat. Fail. Suffer. Do it now. Now’s the time. Especially if you aren’t even married and you don’t have kids. Why in the world are you sitting around? What are you waiting for? There’s absolutely nothing stopping you from chasing big things. Nothing.”–Matt Walsh

Now doesn’t that just wanna make you pursue every dream that you ever had, IN ONE DAY?
