Greetings!

The Diamond of the Week award goes to:

Diamond of the Week (12/27/2013)

Tyrese Gibson

Diamond of the Week (12/27/2013)

To be honest with you, I used to tune into Tyrese Gibson’s inspirational messages, every once in a blue moon. I’ve agreed with most of what he’s said however, there were a few messages that I didn’t agree with 100% such as this one from back in April when he said:

“No two situations are the same. If you are fat and nasty and you don’t like the way you look, do something about it. It’s simple. When you take a shower and you put your fat, nasty body in the shower and by the time you get out, the mirrors are all steamed up so you don’t look at what you did to yourself. That may sound offensive or insensitive but ultimately, you are big as hell because you have earned that shit. You worked your ass off to eat everything in sight to get big as hell. If you got a problem with the way you look, then you need to do something about it. Excuses sound best to the people that’s making them up.”

Welp, I didn’t agree with the ENTIRE message because there are a vast amount of overweight people that are fat because of a health condition and it most certainly doesn’t mean that they’re nasty. But anyway, he did make a very valid point that you are where you are because you’ve “earned that shit.” Sometimes, we are in situations because we’ve earned that shit. If it was in your control to do better but you chose not to, then you earned whatever spot that you’re in. And I think that’s what Tyrese Gibson was trying to get across when he made that statement.

Moving on to the present, Gibson has truly been feeling some kind of way about people out here in the world. I don’t know if maybe it was the death of his dear friend, Paul Walker, that has really pushed him to motivate people in an amazing way or if he just feel the need to help those that really need the help. Either way, I think that he is awesome at giving people motivation to get their shit together. If you haven’t seen any of his motivational messages, take a look at them on his Facebook page. He speaks from a very heavy heart and most importantly, he speaks what he knows.

He’s not on some stage with a mic in his hand, talking to a huge crowd in a stadium. He doesn’t have a camera crew, lighting people, or a person to show him his cue. He simply records his messages on his cell phone and download it for the world to see. He made something so simple to be so powerful and it is making a great impact on the lives of others…including myself.

People are always ranting that a lot of celebrities don’t give back to the community, however, what Gibson gave the community is greater than any money; he gave WISDOM. See, a person can give you money all day to help you out but if you don’t have any wisdom, you’re gonna blow that money away. If you take the time to listen to what Gibson has to say, you’ll gain understanding and wisdom and with that, you’ll be able to do the things that’s needed to change your life.
