फकिराना-ए-सदा कर चले, मियां ख़ुश रहो,हम दुआ कर चले,
Like a mendicant,I give everything and went away,
Dear! Be happy praying I went away.
जो तुझ बिन न जीने को कहते थे हम, सो इस अहद को अब वफ़ा कर चले,
I won't live without you,I used to say,
To be faithful to this pledge,I went away.
कोई नाउम्मिदाना करते निगाह, सो तुम हम से मुहं भी छिपा कर चले।
When expected for an unexpected glimpse,
Than hiding face from me,you went away.
बहुत आरज़ू थी गली की तेरी, सो यां से लहू में नहा कर चले।
To be on your street was a strong desire of mine,
So being bathed in blood from here I went away.
दिखाई दिये यूँ की बेख़ुद किया, हमें आप से भी जुदा कर चले।
Your Gaze made me disown my senses,
Parted me from myself,I went away.
जबीन सजदा करते ही करते गए, हक-ए-बंदगी हम अता कर चले।
Repeatedly I prayed with my forehead on ground,
Did rightful duty of a devotee,I went away.
परिश्तिश की यां तैं की ए बुत तुझे, नज़र में सबो की ख़ुदा कर चले। Oh! statue/idol I worship you so much,
Making you to appear God,I went away.
गई उम्र दर बंद-ए-फ़िक्र-ए-ग़ज़ल, सो इस फन को ऐसा बड़ा कर चले।
A life spent on worrying composing Ghazals(Poetry),
Making this art so big like this,I went away.
कहें क्या जो पूछे कोई हम से "मीर", जहां में तुम आए थे क्या कर चले।
'Mir', What would you say if asked?
For what you came in this world,doing what you went away.
This Ghazal is used in a song of a Hindi film (Bazaar).
