Do It for the Few

Do it for the few Since I'm heading off o camp for two weeks with no electronics, I thought I would give you some good food for thought while I was gone. Who knows, maybe i'll come back and there'll be some feedback!
Probs not, but I can hope-I know you're out there my little reading crowd.

I think it's more than obvious that in today's age people are watching each other. Not like, "Oh, hey, person"

But more like, "Wow, she looks great-do I look great? Oh, she's looking-of course I look great, right?!"
Clearly times have changed. I'm even guilty of this, I hate feeling like I'm wearing dumpy clothes around my friends, who, to me, appear like fashion models, fresh, pressed and gorgeous. So think about this for a minute, "It's easy to compliment someone when you mean it."

I think it's safe to say, when I receive a compliment, I don't receive it. I smile, blush and laugh, "Thanks!" and ship it on it's way into the clouds.

That's not what I should be doing. Good grief, someone took the time, energy and breath to compliment my appearance, or personality, hair, whatever-Receive it! The whole point of a compliment is to be taken, and stored-used to uplift my self esteem when I'm feeling low-that's how this is supposed to work.
But, as clearly demonstrated in "The Hunger Games", Systems, and sometimes plans fail.
Girls now, and gentlemen too, try to see through the compliments, looking for a deeper evil or mistrust already forged within their opinion of the compliment giver.

Something else has been on my mind a lot, especially with packing for camp. Face it, when we (females) pack, we make sure we bring some of our most precious, beautiful clothing items with-because we strive to look our best and impress. And then when we're around those we're trying to impress, yeah-don't feel so precious, do we?

This leads to pressure from ourselves to go and buy more beautiful things-but again, why? Why do we waste our time on stuff like that?
Everyone's been made aware of how God views women, specifically how He views the church-as His bride. You may never have been to a wedding, but it doesn't matter how the bride looks, whether she's in white, black or red, veil or no veil-have you ever seen the groom give her a look over, shake his head and wave her away?
Um, no.
Life shouldn't be about trying to impress those around us, especially our friends and family. Don't give into those dark thoughts about not being good enough-clearly you're good enough for the people around you-no one is ever forced to invest time with you, there will always be the choice.

So, when you dress, talk, and behave around other people-remember:

You're not there to impress thousands of people, you're there to invest time with the few.
Don't feel bad about what you're wearing, how you're hair looks, or even the things you say-somebody ou there cares a whole lot for you-and He's got your back ;)

Godbless,

LizB
