My son's very first ever watch

My son’s very first ever watch

My son is learning how to tell time in school, and for the last week or so, he has been begging me to buy him a watch.  He’s had some watches over the years — digital ones that have been either broken or forgotten.  This was different though.  This time, he wanted one specifically with a minute and a second hand.

Bless his teacher!!!  When my son makes a request that is educational, I am all over that, and his teacher is the one who has made him excited to learn.  I completely give her credit for this new interest.

So, I took him to Kohl’s last night with no questions asked.  He asks me for stuff all the time, and I am constantly saying no.  I think he was pretty surprised when I enthusiastically agreed, and blog readers, he is pretty darn proud of this watch.

We were out for dinner last night, and he confidently announced the time every 5 minutes.  When he woke up this morning, he ran right over to his watch to let me know what time he woke up, too.  It’s the cutest thing ever.

So, may this be his first watch of many, because I now have a kid who’s aware of time.  What a mind blow.

My song of the day is by Chicago.  “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?” is the philosophical question that only a band like Chicago would ask and get the world thinking about.  Here’s the answer though, Chicago — yes, someone really does know what time it is.  That person is my son, and he’s getting really good at it.
