Dogs That Changed the World

Peekenese

Yesterday I watched a documentary about the evolution of dogs called Dogs That Changed the World. All dogs descended  from the Grey Wolf. The first dogs appeared in East Asia. The Chinese were the first people to breed small dogs. The first small dog was the Peekenese. It was suppose to have the maine of a lion, big eyes and short bent legs so it wouldn't wander far. Five of these dogs were found during a raid and one was brought to England and given to the queen. This started the lap dog trend. Dogs evolved much faster than Darwin thought was possible. Dog breeders began creating new breeds by breeding puppies for their desired traits. There are now over 400 globally recognized breeds. Dogs are still evolving and so are humans. It was a really good documentary.
Today I watched a university lecture from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute online about archeology. I learned that 'they' really are trying to dumb the population down because I understood every word of the lecture. I did learn about ancient tools and saw photos of the skulls of ancient human-like creatures. I also learned that most of the skeletons they found of early human-like creatures had monkey-like feet that could be used to hold onto things. Today humans have weird shaped feet and toes that are not very useful.
Today I tried to make Christmas cards for everybody but I'm still designing the front cover of my first one. I want to make a small homemade gift for everyone.
Today I read a bit in French with my tutor then kicked my sister's butt in French Guess Who.
It snowed a bit today for the first time this fall but it all melted almost right away.
On Tuesday I rode a different horse because mine wouldn't come back into the barn from outside. The horse I rode was named Crayola and he is a biter. He even has to wear special ropes so that he can't turn around and bite you when you're riding him. He was nice to me though and even let me brush the mud off his face. He did give me a look when I went to brush his legs so I stopped. I didn't want to get bitten.
In the evening the dog trainer came over to teach us how to train our dog who is a screwed up lap dog.
