Dr Balm- Miss Sporty

Posted on the 05 March 2013 by Gracem16 @TSITR_Gracie
Hey guys,
So these came out a few weeks ago I believe- they are fairly recent; the Dr Balm's by Miss Sporty. I have heard though that baby lips is FINALLY coming to the UK and this is there early answer to the problem. In a way they are trying to win customer favour- this is what I think anyhow.
SO- Dr Balm review here we go. Firstly, at the time of writing this they were 2 for £3 in boots but are a fair price at £1.99- which is cheaper than an EOS and higher than a standard chap stick   The colours are more of a sheen apart from no3 which is such a glaring tint of orange, yellow it's garish. SO I decided to go for no1 and no2. I'll evaluate them one at a time...
No1: A very light glossy sheen- nothing really color wise more of a shiny wash. The packaging for no1 is awkwardly like something my sister would do on paint. It's very childish and doesn't necessarily appeal to me. However; this is a "dupe" as such as it must be remembered that Miss Sporty does appeal to the teenager market.
No2: Has tint of peach and a very soft pink; this is also a high sheen color but has a lot more color than no1. This is my preferred colour as I like the soft tint of color that makes it so appealing. Packaging wise it is sldo in the same packaging as No1 but is just a darker pink shade.
Next smell: Surprisingly they both have very different smells no2 being more like a watermelon sort of smell. However; I can't disregard the fact they both smell very "cheap" and "plastic". They aren't like a high end product like the Baby Lips that is being sold online for around £5-8. But in the states I am unsure of the price. I don't think it's very expensive. Yet, this is a product under the brand Maybelline a much more... dare I say it sophisticated brand that has a much older range of buyers.
Application & Wear: Easy to apply, very smooth application and doesn't slide off. Yet, this being a very cheap product you may need some extra application after eating, drinking, etc. But it stays on after I've taken sips of water from the bottle but it would need a touch up.
Hydration: This is a key element- for me it hydrates but it doesn't soak up the product I feel like it just sits on my lips. It's only after I wipe it off do I feel that hydration and it doesn't feel like it soothes my poor chapped lips. This is only a first sort of impression and I do wonder if it would fulfil that as I used it more. I'm quite pooed off with it to be frank.
Taste: I know this sounds ridiculous but from time to time we end up getting a bit of chap stick in our mouths. THE TASTE IS FOUL. It tastes like cheap plastic, like when you bite your nails when having that iky no bite stuff, it's a taste that stays in your mouth.
Packaging: The packaging is something I would find in my 13 year old sisters bedroom and I think this would be a product that she loves the look of- I did it just for testing purposes. I love the look of baby lips bright colourful packing though. I would have walked straight past this product if I hadn't have known to test it.
Amount of product: See the picture below, YOU LITERALLY GET SO LITTLE PRODUCT. But you can't argue you pay the price you pay. Yet, it is a disappointing amount all the same.
Overall, quite disgruntled to be honest, I was hoping for better but I think that people CAN wait till the Spring when baby lips does come to the UK. However; I think if you are around 13 and can't wait for baby lips this may work for you.
