Ever Wonder....

Posted on the 09 August 2011 by Saratpierce
... what happens when you have a teapot that doesn't whistle when the water boils... and you leave it on a hot burner so long that all the water inside evaporates... and you are startled by a burning smell wafting from the kitchen?
Wonder no more...I present to you our most recent kitchen FAIL:Ever wonder....
When I walked ran into the kitchen and realized that there was ZERO steam coming out of the teapot I instantly turned the burner off and TRIED to grab the pot by it's handle to lift it off. Unfortunately the teapot was MELTED TO THE BURNER and would NOT come off!

Ever wonder....
I gave it a forceful tug and managed to pull it off the burner {which was still red hot}. Although I wasn't quick enough to get a picture of it, there was actually a piece of metal stuck to the burner that pulled up like taffy when I finally got the teapot detached. As I was examining the damage on the pot the lid handle fell off onto the floor. HANDLE IMAGEThe handle had ALSO melted. Brilliant. To give you a little more detail on how epic this fail really was... take a gander at the grooves that were burned into the bottom of the teapot!
Ever wonder....A closer look...
Ever wonder....Them grooves is DEEP, yo!Needless to say this teapot was officially retired and sweet hubby and I both learned a valuable lesson about the importance of having a kettle that actually WHISTLES when the water's ready. Just another crazy day in the Pierce household.
Until next time...Have you ever had something like this happen? What about another kitchen disaster? TELL ME ALL ABOUT IT!
