I just recently learned about a sweet little teaching mechanism my son has picked up from his school. His teacher is amazing, and I am constantly learning from her, too. This one particular gem of wisdom is called “The Peace Table.”
I guess my son was at his karate camp that he’s attending this week for winter break, and he told the martial arts teacher all about it and suggested that they use it there, too. The Peace Table is simply a table that’s set aside for kids to go to when they’re not getting along and need to work out their problems. They can’t leave the Peace Table until a conclusion is reached, and they tell each other they are sorry.
Amazing concept, huh? I think so. Just imagine if there were “Peace Tables” located in offices and government buildings all around the world. Imagine if world leaders used it. What a simple concept that could accomplish such greatness. I love the Peace Table.
It’s a nice thought to end 2014 with and to bring into 2015. As said by the great late John Lennon, “All we are saying is give peace a chance!”
