Half Moon

HALF-MOON

Skipping home with plenty of libations,

I noticed the half moon late at night.

Staring at its glory I notice its non-darkness and non-light.

I noticed the manufactured beams that tried to shine,

with various tints of various kinds.

Trying to outlast the divided moon and maybe

Perform even better than the chopped moon   that was way too high

The semi moon didn’t notice didn’t even bat an eye.

It seemed to be proud as that ½ moon does.

The job it was doing was just enough as it was.

The chill set in and the others came

Dark and foreboding the clouds holding rain

Grabbed and Strangled the incomplete moon in a sadistic game

It was obvious she was dead

the steel blanket covered it

With three or four seconds of dread

After that she shined with an exhale and a spit

And showed half of her face

that only could hold half the beauty and half the grace.

It was done and over,

the finale of the play.

I picked myself up,

I knew I could not stay.

As I laid my head down

with time slipping away.

One question intruded my mind

“Why would anyone divide a moon that way?” Moon.
