Hallo loves
So, I've been struggling quite a bit with temptation, I mean-wow, it really is a battle of the mind sometimes-right?  I told me mom 'bout what was going on, and she's rallying with me-i think i've got some sort of weird "non-emoticali es mi" thing going on, like, no emotions-ya know? Or it's just inside, I'm okay with it ;) anyways, so it's been pretty weird-my mom knowing about my...issues. but then yesterday was really bad, like "I'm so angry and I hate my mistakes" mornings, ever had one of those? heh, yeah. But then I found this passage, and well-like it says, really just gave me some hope and encouragement :)
2 Samuel chapter 11-12 These are the two chapters about King David’s relationship with Bathesheba and Uriah. In summary, David sleeps with Bathesheba, then sends her soldier husband, Uriah, out to die on the front lines (He sent special orders to his general) A couple things in these passages struck me down -first, was Uriah when the King called him back from the battle, Uriah refused to go and see his wife-because he was in a battle, his fellow men and the ark of the Covenant were not at their homes, so he slept on the king’s front steps. -secondly, David just moves on after he hears that Uriah is dead, and after Bathesheba mourns, he just takes her to be his wife-and she gives birth to their son (come on, i mean, gross!) -and lastly, when the prophet, Nathan (love that name), comes and tells David a parable, about a Rich man, and a Poor-the Rich man had many possesions, many sheep, lots of stuff, the poor man had only a little ewe (sheep/lamb) which he cared for above himself. When a traveler came to the rich man, the rich man took the poor man’s sheep, instead of butchering one of his own.  After Nathan explains that David is like the rich man, and he explains what god is going to do, because David was not satisfied with all the Lord had provided him with- (And I could just picture this) I iagine, that David was pale, and slumped on his throne as he said, “I have sinned against the Lord.” And Nathan, being full of the Spirit, said, ” The Lord has taken away your sin. You are not going to die.” I was dealing with a lot of temptation today, including lust-unfortunately, I didn’t simply let it go and find something better for me to think about-and I feel as though I can really relate to David in this story, especially that last part-I mean, it was just like, wow. So-there’s my little Bible study for ya’ll, sorry it’s so long.
God bless! LB
