Eight years ago today, I became a mother for the second time. That little boy came into the world, fell into my arms, and I was instantly in love.
It’s different the second time you have a baby. The first time, my husband basically moved into the hospital with me until I was ready to go home. The second time, he was with me far less, because there was another little person who needed our love, too. The first time, I stayed at the hospital for every moment I was allowed to, but the second time, I was counting the minutes until I could get home and start our new life of three becoming four.
In those first couple of days of his life, we had some really great conversations…just him and me. I told him about my dreams for him and how that my biggest wish was for his happiness. We were connected immediately, and still to this day, we are tied together by an indescribable love for each other.
My blog post today is a thank you note to our little birthday guy on his 8th birthday. Thank you, son, for being the best #4 and rounding off our family in the way it was meant to be. Thank you for the love you give and the laughter you seem to bring to most situations. You push my buttons and make me question almost every aspect of my life, but you have made me a better person because of it. Thank you for 8 years of YOU.
Your birthday song today is being done in a way that you would like best. Here is the Spongebob Squarepants’ take on it called “Happy Birthday Squidward.” This one’s for you, kid. xxxooo
