Thanksgiving Day means so many different things to me. It means sleeping in late and hanging out for most of the day wearing jammies, robes and slippers. It means one of my very favorite traditions, The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. At 8am, the TV was already glued to it in my house.

It means cooking and playing board games and then showering and sprucing up to spend the latter part of the day at my parent’s house for turkey and stuffing and all the trimmings.

But most all, Thanksgiving is all about being thankful. I really have so much to be thankful for, and sometimes when I’m in the heart of life’s stresses, I forget this. Thanksgiving is a day that forces you to step back for a moment though and take stock of all the good.
I have a beautiful family, friends that I love and care about and that love and care about me, a great job, a great grad school, a wonderful school for my children, a blog that I created and people who love to read it, a beautiful home, amazingly funny, loyal and sweet pets – this list could go on and on and on.
Thanksgiving 2011
Life is so good, and I am truly blessed. This is something I can never lose sight of. So, my song of the day is an ode to Thanksgiving for making me mindful of that. (And the Pumpkin pie doesn’t hurt either) Debbie Friedman was a Jewish songleader and writer, but her Thanksgiving song is truly a work of art. Make sure to listen, because it will bring a smile to your face. Spreading a little joy is the least I can do, because I am so thankful for YOU! Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving to all! xo
