Hey Mr. DJ – Put a Record On, #619

I’m gonna let y’all in on a little Tucson Songstress secret today:  I hate to dance.  I have always hated dancing…from the time I was in Eleanor Rudick’s tap dancing class at the Akron, OH JCC when I was in preschool.  The reason for this disdain is because I have two left feet.  Seriously…..total klutz.  I am an awful dancer.

Yes, I know what you’re all thinking.  She must have beat and rhythm…she’s a musician.  I do, in fact, have plenty of beat and rhythm, but my feet just cannot mirror what my musical soul has going on inside my body.  It’s ridiculous.

I am such a bad dancer that when I was a musical theatre major in performing arts school, rather than put me in a class with the Julliard/American Ballet Theatre-striving ballerinas….they put me in a class on Saturday mornings with 5-year-olds.  So embarrassing!

So, if I am at your wedding or bar mitzvah or any other occasion where people are joyously ripping up the dance floor like this:

Dancing

Please…..don’t think I’m a bad-attitude stick-in-the-mud.  Really….I am having fun and am happy to walk around observing and taking photographs and chatting it up with other party goers.  I just cannot handle moving to music and looking like a big dork.

That said, I love loud music and blinking lights, so amen to Madonna when she said, “Hey Mr. DJ, put a record on.  I want to dance with my baby…..Music makes the people come together.”  It really does.  So, click HERE to hear her song, and let the music bring us all together.  Happy Sunday, everyone!
