[ Hípstər ]

Hipster: Somebody up-to-date: somebody conversant with fashions in music, clothes, and social attitudes, especially an enthusiast of modern jazz.
Most times, if someone (usually Christian) is called a Hipster, they immediately retaliate,deny it or joke around with it, while not agreeing.
If a Hipster is a trendsetter, shouldn't Christians be one? I'm not neccesarily talking about clothes, music etc. I'm talking about beliefs, knowing who you are and being confident in that. That's what the Bible says to be, "Not ashamed of the Gospel" (Rom. 1:16).
I am not twisting the word to fit my argument, but when it comes to Hipsters I wold have to say that if there's any trend that needs to be set, it would be the one of

• Limitless Love
• A reason to live
• A purpose and
• limitless sacrifice

Ring a bell?
I would hope so, since there are four main books in the best selling book of the world, describing who and how someone did/could do this.

Okay, it's Jesus. Jesus sacrificed His life, He didn't have to but He purposely allowed Himself to be torn and broken for a people group that despised and hated Him. He did this while we still didn't understand. How about this example:

A farmer noticed one blizzard-ry evening that there were some sparrows out in the yard, freezing and wouldn't make i through the night. The farmer, having compassion on them went and opened his barn in an attempt to help them stay warm through the freezing evening. But as he tried to push, pull and even scare the birds into the barn, so they might live-the birds were to frightened of the farmer that they remained out in the snow. The farmer, as he went back inside and thought about this, realized that Jesus became human, so we wouldn't be to scared to go into the barn.

Most of you were just like, "He gave up? c'mon he could've lit a fire, or tried harder!" Right, it's okay, cause after he went inside a bottle of ooze fell on them and they became the Teenage Mutant Ninja Sparrows! (TMNS)
Just kidding, sorry.
Back to being a hipster-as a Christian we are not commanded to dress with the latest fashions and know the latest lingo-if anything Jesus commands the opposite when He said, "Do not be conformed to the ways of this world". True story.
But, I think we should understand what's behind a hipster's thinking. They understand what they believe in and will not let someone argue it out with them. They're courageous when their friends come against them-and they are content with who they as a person, are.

Can you say you're any of that?

I know I can't.
But I'm not a sinner anymore-and know what that means?
It means that Jesus has adopted me,
and I'm not inheriting eternal life through my biological parents, but through the "Millionaire" (if you will) who chose me, 
and guess what?

He chose you too.
