We’re here. Yep, we finally made it. It’s the coveted day dreamed about all summer long. It’s the day we “meet the teacher.” Schools set it up for the day before school officially starts, but really, in my opinion it’s a day to deal with the crazy supply list. They needed to come up with a way to deal with those monster piles of glue sticks and highlighters. Just organizing it all must be a monumental task for a teacher. So, “meet your teacher” day has become a thing. A big thing. Parents need to take off work, but at least it gives us an opportunity to size up the person our children will be spending a good deal of time with in the next year.
So, there is only one song that comes to mind. “Hot For Teacher” was every school boy’s fantasy when I was growing up. Dear gentleman of Van Halen, the boys may want a hot teacher, but a Mom just wants her kids to have Mary Poppins for an educator. Someone who’s kind but able to not let the students walk all over her. Mary please-be-awesome Poppins teacher makes learning fun. That’s all that matters.
