Housing

Posted on the 14 April 2012 by Nickmcdonald @W_W_O_Nick_McD
I am writing this post at night because I can't write it tomorrow since I have to get up early and work all day since my dad bought a house and now we are packing up and moving AGAIN!! Our family moves around a lot! I'm not sure why, it seems like everyone has lived in the same house for like their whole life, and we are averaging about 100 moves per year. It isn't even like we are moving to different towns I lived in the same small town my whole life until a few months ago and within the span of the last 10 years this will be my 10th "real" move. As in moving from one house to a new house not even counting going to stay with relatives for extended periods of time which I do a fair amount.
Anywho, back to the point of this post. I don't care where I am staying. For everyone else it seem to be a big deal, but I don't see it houses in my eyes should be functional above all else. I don't care what color the walls are or wither the curtains match the carpet, and I'm not just saying that it is what I genuinely believe. In my ideal house I could walk through the door, collapse on my bed, sleep, wake up, roll over onto the toilet, stand up into my shower, walk out of the shower to a sink where I can shave, turn around to my fridge where I can get some food then by that time I would hopefully be at a spot between my bed, the door, and the closet so I can decide if I'm going outside or if I'm going to get back in bed. That my friends is the perfect house. You may be thinking where is the TV and the computer, or the table for eating? For your house may have to make a few adjustments. I do pretty much everything in my bed eating, sleeping, computering, occasionally other things I won't mention in this post, I have yet to get a TV installed but even right now I'm laying in my bed naked with my laptop in my lap typing away. Comfort is very important to me, and there is no place more comfortable than a bed! Fluffy pillows, warm cuddly blankets why do you need 1500 square feet when all you need is like 150. You have an entire world of space outside to stretch you legs! Spend some more time out there
In my last post I talked about beauty. I used a metaphor of a salad to show how you have to look past beauty to see what really matters. I was of course referring to people but the metaphor still works in this case. I love beautiful things, nature, women, art. But beauty only works when you are looking for it, when you aren't it just gets in your way. It is like girls who were those 6 inch heel. Their fine for the runway, but they are soooo impractical. And for me, honestly, that is a turn off. If you care enough about how you look to suffer all day just so your ass looks a little better than it already does, it tells me that you don't have a personality to match so you rely on your ass to make up for that.
Sorry, I got a bit off course there. What I was trying to say before my fingers interrupted me was that your house is your house; It is not an art gallery, or a public park, you don't need to fill it up with aesthetic things like paintings and plants, it is a place of function it is supposed to serve you, to be a tool to make your life easier, not a piece of art that you have to constantly clean and tidy up to keep it looking its best.
It is like 1 in the morning and I'm tired so if there is any weird grammatical mistakes I apologize but I am to lazy to read through this and make corrections.
Good night,
Nick McDonald
