How to Spend Your Christmas Money - The Fitness Guru

Posted on the 07 January 2012 by Brittany_tyd @Brittany_TYD

This post is part of a mini-series based on the fact that so many families end up just handing out money on Christmas. Did this happen to you? Did they make you promise not to spend it on bills? Then read on for some ideas on how to spend it.  Just make sure you tell them what you spent it on. People like that. Yesterday:  {bookworm} ***
Ideas for the Fitness Guru
Do you like to work out? Did you add "get into shape" to your list of New Years' Resolutions? Well, more power to you. I will jealously watch the pounds fall off of your body and the muscles tone into a super model physique while I eat ruffles and ranch dip on my couch, wondering why I'm getting so fat.
But, since I know people like you exist, and in an effort to inspire myself to join in on the fitness fun, I thought I'd do a day especially dedicated to you - the health nut, the work-out-a-holic, the body builder.
Let's start with something I know something about - Yoga. I love me some yoga. The best thing about yoga (besides the awesome work out without often breaking into too much of a sweat) is the variety of "accessories."
First, you definitely need your own mat. I had a yoga teacher tell me once (seriously. I was once a fitness lover. I swear.) that you create a connection with your mat. I think she was 100% right.    Yes, a pilates mat snuck its way in there. I don't pretend to be tough enough for pilates. Maybe one day I'll get a core built up and an hour of pilates won't make it hurt to laugh for the next week.
Other helpful accessories will make you look like a pro when you walk into that room on Jan. 1st. Just make sure you don't pay for a gym membership all year long, only to quit on your resolution for a few weeks. You can do it!    *I prefer not to practice in socks, but I understand that working out in a gym, barefoot, does sound pretty gross, so maybe those toe socks would be a good compromise. They ARE super cute!*

*** Do you love Cardio more than mediation? Check out these cool gizmos and cute pants to get you out of your house and through the streets of your neighborhood.

Or how about staying inside, where you can monitor the temperature and don't have to worry about being chased by any neighborhood dogs? Do you want to practice yoga without being a tree that falls in the forest - and everyone in gym hears it? Or do you like to dance, but don't want to risk poking anyone's eyes out at the club? These are definitely options.
But, let's be real. Do you like video games (there is a day coming up just for you)? Or do you have kids who NEEDED a console player last year (or just last weekend)? Load these into your Wii, PS3 or XBox and get to rockin'!
Whatever your favorite way to stay in shape, don't forget to stretch!
I hope you all have a fabulous week, and take on your resolutions with gusto!
