Today's prompt from Project Reverb:
>> Anchor: What kept you tethered to 2013? <<
Tethered:
tie (an animal) with a rope or chain so as to restrict its movement.
I have felt my children have been tied up by the educational system in 2013 and because I want the best for them, I have been forced into ropes with my hands tied because so much of education is about filling in bubbles and regurgitating the teacher’s opinions (or state testing’s opinions or the principal/feudal overlord’s opinions) so that any intellectual curiosity and passionate discussion of the issues or circumstances are some how marked as “not preferable.”
Filling in the blanks? Good.
Filling in bubbles with multiple choice? Great.
Thinking independently and challenging the status quo? That, my dears, is to be punished.
I find this repugnant.
I also find it troubling that so many adults of this day just shrug their shoulders and insist there is nothing they can do about it. We need to be courageous enough to question everything and to take a stand by taking risks instead of being another robotic automaton.
In 2013, I was less “out there” than the norm – I allowed my health issues to take the forefront.
After yet another heartily bad situation with my daughter, I am like that phoenix, rising again.
Do any of you remember what the Monroe Doctrine is? It is actually very interesting.
I cannot remember a single thing about my chemistry class except my teacher, Mr. Quirk, helped me to pass and actually get a B in the class instead of failing because he was patient and reassuring.
How to stay untethered?
Question and stay passionate.
Question and stay passionate.
Live the questions and stay in the center of passion regardless of the subject at hand.
