I Just Called to Say I Love You, #784

Posted on the 09 September 2013 by Juliezaz1 @juliezaz1

We received the miracle of all phone calls yesterday.  My son had a playdate, and the mother called us later in the evening just to tell us how well-mannered our little boy is.  She was impressed with all of his “pleases” and “thank yous,” and hopes that his good influence will rub off on her little guy, too.

Say what??!!??  Is this the same kid who I’ve lived with for almost 7 years whose favorite form of expression is arm farting?  It dawned on me though…he reserves his crazy behavior for us!  Is it possible that when he goes out into the real world, some of our teaching and coaching has paid off?  Oh please, please, please….my fingers are crossed…please tell me that I really am raising a gentleman!

It has occurred to me that perhaps my son has pulled the wool over this naive Mother’s eyes.  Is my son 2013′s equivalent to Eddie Haskell from “Leave It to Beaver,”…always causing havoc, but only behind June Cleaver’s back?  I can only hope and pray that some of what we do has an impact, and I must just believe that somewhere in that thick skull, my son absorbs some of what we say.

What a wonderful treat it was to hear appreciation of another mother of my son’s behavior.  Boy did those words make me feel so good!

To honor wonderful loving phone calls, my song of the day today is “I Just Called to Say I Love You” by Stevie Wonder, because everyone needs a good surprise like that from time to time.  Click HERE to hear this lovely little melody, as I start my week with a smile on my face knowing that I’ve had just a little bit of success!
