I’ll Be Home for Christmas, #1117

Even though I’m Jewish, we always have special plans for Christmas every year.  There’s always a party and wonderful holiday cheer, and I just love this time of year.

This year, my family decided to go to California to celebrate with dear friends.  It’s a tradition that we are not always able to keep up, but this year we decided to make the effort to be with them.

And then my dog got sick.

We’re not talking about a life threatening illness, but nonetheless, he would need to adhere to a special at-home prepared diet and medications twice daily.  I just couldn’t see giving this added responsibility to our 20-year-old pet sitter.

So, I sent my family to California anyway, and here I am at home for Christmas.  It’s disappointing, but at least I’ll have time to get some things done around the house.  It’s me and my Jewish pups de-waxing the menorahs and putting them away on Christmas day.

My song of the day is Michael Buble’s “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”  I’m typically a traditionalist when it comes to music, and there’s nothing like the Bing Crosby version of this song.  As I was sitting in the vet’s office the other night with my dog, however, they had the Michael Buble Christmas special on.  It was the best way to pass the time, and his voice is just so smooth.  So Michael Buble it is today.  It seemed apropos given the circumstances.  Buble brought us into Christmas, and now we’ll finish it up with him, too.

Have a very Merry Christmas, Tucson Songstress friends.  I hope you’re with your loved ones, because that’s the way it’s supposed to be.
