Having been in relationships, both friends and otherwise, that render me unable of seeing the person for more than half a year sometimes at a stretch, I can very well relate to the intense yearning on watching people hanging out. You sit there, looking at people hi-fiving each other, and as you wait for a phone call from your special person, you long for a normal day. You know you'd give up anything, just to ask them if they could join you for lunch that day. Just to let them know at the end of the day, that you would see them tomorrow.
With people living close, we tend to take them for granted. Take for granted the fact that they'd be right there the next day. If you like them, they'd be there to listen to you rant about the miserable night that you had. And if you hate them, you resent the fact that you'd have to see their ugly mug the next morning, oh the harbingers of misery! But you take for granted, that they'd be there, all the same.
Fact of the matter is, time will run out one day. The weekend would arrive, you'd go on a vacation, they'd move to another place, college would end, you would get married, they would go abroad. And when you walk on that road by their house, or in the corridor next to your class, you won't see them. All you'd have is a handful of memories, good or bad, perhaps this desire to share a good cup of coffee with them, but they'll be gone
My Birthday resolution? Meet friends, family and love as much as you can. Share the silliest conversations. Laugh at the lamest of jokes. Ask them out for lunch, even if they're
busy. Drag them out for a movie.
And be grateful, when they say, 'Hey, I'll see you tomorrow :)'
