I realize.
I realize suddenly.
I realize suddenly what .
I realize suddenly what is up.
What is absent.
What is outside.
What is absent outside inside of me.
I miss.
It’s not here.
The words.
The letters.
They line up when
I rise up to meet them.
Not before.
Not after.
Not yesterday.
I’ve been feeling.
Subtraction of feeling.
Contraction.
Stillborn.

I am a writer primarily.
I also facilitate writing programs and as a part of that, I create writing prompts.
Funny thing, though, when my writing prompts kick me in the butt.
Not funny, ha-ha but funny a-ha.

Sometime in the recent past I let my writing practice go.
And then I started a major construction project on my home.
And then I let my photo taking practice go.
And then I left my index-card-a-day challenge go.
And then my crankiness increased and I got more and more sleepy and I stopped laughing as much.
I realized then, when I wrote my prompt from none other than Lord Byron that I haven’t done much free writing lately.
Today, I began again.
And I wrote a poem.
And I feel better.
