I just used the song “I Want Candy” by Bow Wow Wow as my song of the day 2 months ago. At the time I was writing about the evil temptation of Halloween candy being in the house. Today, I am using the song for a much different purpose.
It was also 2 months ago (only 4 days after the original “I Want Candy” blog) that our beloved cat of 14 years, Turtle Dove, died. She lived a good long life, but we were devastated. That’s when the begging started.
“Mom!!! Can we please adopt a new cat,” coaxed my tear-stained daughter. I explained that we had enough pets (2 cats and 2 dogs), but my children are used to a household with lots of animals, and my daughter just couldn’t understand why we wouldn’t bring one more home. She wanted one that was HER cat. We swore that we would not even entertain the idea until our Golden Retriever, Sunny, was 100% housebroken.
Well, he’s finally housebroken, and the begging continued. Then, our local animal shelter (PACC) announced that they would be having free adoptions all weekend due to over crowding. Our consummate animal lover daughter was quick to bring this to our attention, and before we knew it, she was naming her 9-month-old all black domestic medium haired feline, Candy. Candy comes home on Tuesday after she is spayed, and it looks like we have one more fur ball to add to the family. Without further ado, blog readers, here is Candy…
