If You Love Somebody Set Them Free, #1191

Free free set them free. That lyric is running through my head over and over again this morning. My daughter was gone for 5 days and is heading back out first thing Tuesday morning. She is a veteran camp girl. This is her third year doing this, and I know that camp is truly her favorite time of the year. Off she goes, and boy will I miss her for those 2 weeks where we will have no communication.

This is the first year though that my son will be joining her, and I feel like the mama bird pushing her baby from the nest. He is about to take a leap of faith, and there is one thing I am pretty certain of. He has no idea what he's getting himself into. He is just so used to being totally taken care of, and camp will really be the first independence he's had. I am totally and completely unsure of how he's going to handle this new found freedom that comes with camp. The thing I cam confident of, however, is that he is in good hands.

I am anticipating some major homesickness, and I am just praying that he'll get past it pretty quickly and have the time of his life. He comes from a long line of camp worshipers, and I am crossing my fingers he falls into that inherited mold.

So - free free set them free. Sting wrote a really good lyric that is resonating with me today. "If You Love Somebody Set Them Free."

About tucsonsongstress

I am a music teacher for children ages 6-weeks-old - 8th grade. I am also a camp songleader and a Jewish music specialist with and without my husband who is known as Shabbat Scott. We love singing with people of all ages all over Tucson. My "song of the day" idea originally started by playing music challenges on Facebook. I loved choosing songs, and my friends seemed to love reading and listening to my choices. I have decided to continue a daily blog (or as daily as I can manage) and tell you all some stories through some songs that have touched me either in wonderful ways or by annoying the heck out of me. Hope you all enjoy this blog! Happy singing!
