Welcome That’s Mrs. StepMom to You! We’re happy to have you as our first guest for Inside the Blogger’s Studio. This series is a way to get to know other bloggers, while also getting a glimpse into the life of a fellow parent. Who doesn’t love feeling like they aren’t the only ones going crazy??? My hope is to feature a different blogger the first Monday of each month. With that said, let the questions begin!
If you had to sum up your blog in two sentences, what would you say?
An honest account of everyday life as a stepmom. Everything that led me to it and through it, the past, present and hope for the future with realism, emotion and humor.
What thing did you do today as a parent you wish you could take back and do over?
Pissing the hubby off, by siding with the kids. Being in a blended family, sometimes I do tend to jump to their aid and I need to stop and talk to my husband away from the kids.
What thing did you do today that you are happiest about?
Today, I posted a blog for the Blogger Idol following at home. That’s huge considering two others will critique my work – which scares the crap out of me!
What is your least favorite activity to do with your children?
Homework – hands down! More specifically reading with my son – because I know he knows way more than he lets on. Just like when he didn’t talk – then bam one day he spit out an entire sentence! I knew it, you little turkey!
What is your most favorite activity to do with your children?
It’s a tie between snuggling on the couch and being at their sporting events. It’s super important to them for me to be there, so for them it’s the sporting events, for me it’s the snuggling. Especially since my seven year old is too old for kisses in public now ~ so I have to get what I can!
When your child drives you absolutely crazy and you want to scream a curse word, which word do you wish you could say?
Wish or say? Because when I am driven absolutely crazy it comes out and there is no holding it in. It usually starts with “Are you freaking kidding me??” Followed by “you gotta be Stupid-stinking Shitting me!” Yep, there it is the three S’s.
What’s your favorite lie you have ever told your child?
That God emails, and when I had a feeling they weren’t being honest, I would go get my laptop and boy howdy did the truth come out. I actually haven’t used that one in a while – I wonder if it would still work??
At what moment did you realize that you really were grown up?
There are moments when I find myself doing something like being at school conference or at the Doctors office and I wonder if they see me as an adult. Because I am the age of an adult – but I don’t feel like one always. However, today as I was sweeping the floor, I thought to myself, I must be an adult because I know that the house has to get cleaned, and do it. If I were a child, I’d leave it a mess, right?
