In the headlines today is an article in Rolling Stone magazine with John Mayer regarding a song written about him by none other than Taylor Swift. Apparently things are heating up amongst these two artists over a relationship they had years ago. I need just a minute to rant on this if I may.
I knew John Mayer in high school. He was a nice kid, quiet, did his own thing & hung out with the same people. Nonetheless, I've always liked him, even before he became famous. On another note, I've always been a fan of Taylor Swift as well. But, at the risk of sounding a little bias and harsh, isn't she getting a little too old to be writing songs about her old boyfriends? I think it's time to grow up. "Don't you think I was too young… when I loved you so?" No one forced you into his arms, if you did in fact have some deep love. And at 19, what you could possibly know about a deep love? After all, you've penned nothing but a multitude of multi-platinum albums about mediocre relationships. This young woman we put on a pedestal has used her talents to win our hearts at the expense of others. In no way am I stating that John is innocent here because I don't know the details of their relationship then or now. All artists use experiences from life, but how many more men does she have to date in order to keep her career going? Sorry Taylor, but this young & innocent act has to go. You're beautiful, talented and should be recognized for that, not for berating someone whom you made a choice to be with.
End of rant.
