Julyyyy

Posted on the 02 July 2012 by Mattie @comfyconfident

It’s July!

And it is time for me to stop putting it off and start shaping up. I need to be honest with myself and all of you. I avoid the scale and the number that may appear because it scares the crap out of me. In college I weighed around 135. My ideal weight is around 130. I currently weigh 140. I want to get down to 130 (ASAP!) :) I truly believe I can, I just need to focus and really hold myself accountable. I work out all the time; that is not my problem. It is clearly my diet. Which is why I really need to start saying no, making smarter choices and realizing every bite counts. Now, don’t get me wrong. I love food and alcohol! I could never fully restrict myself (clearly!), but I really want to and need to make a change. I don’t want to go through life wishing I looked better or weighed less. I need to make the effort and make the change. No one else is going to do that for me.

So, it’s July.  A new month, a new beginning and time for me to start fresh. It’s a holiday week so it’s going to be hard, but I don’t have time to put it off.

I actually had a great weekend. I mean, I indulged, as I do every weekend, but not to the extreme and I feel way better this Monday morning. I still am not happy with what the scale said but I feel good, so that’s a plus!

We enjoyed hot, beautiful weather this weekend. On Saturday we went to Crane’s beach in Ipswich, MA with some of our friends. It was so nice to be outside, on the sand, all day!

We made healthy snacks to have during the hot weekend. My favorite one is the frozen juice pops we made with V8 Fusion Juice. The people at V8 were really generous and sent me their 3 new Smoothie blends: Wild Berry, Strawberry Banana, and Mango.  Let me tell you they are all SO GOOD! And even better when made into frozen pops!

I also went for a 7 mile run on Sunday which was super hot, but felt so good! I ran well which was nice and helped built my confidence. Because it was so hot, I made sure to take a break in the shade every time I felt I was going to over heat! It worked out to be about every 2.5 miles, I would take a minute break to catch my breath and cool down a bit. I ended up running 7 miles in 57 minutes at an average pace of 8:13.

I had a delicious and refreshing smoothie post run.
