Knowing

Posted on the 17 October 2015 by Heartbaredtoyou121 @naughtytushki

I picked up some scent
that led me through that muddy trail
lined up with treacherous dandelions
dying and scowling
with the wind passing over them

Forehead gained some sweat
breathe still sturdy
the trail met an incline
and turned cold
no footsteps visible in the mud anymore

I brush off the sweat with my fingers first
take a moment to huff and puff
look out for the road ahead
not a single human soul to see
in the engulfing darkness that lay ahead

I reach out for for my heart
press my chest over it
Tell myself
that I can’t stop
till it is done
till she is found
Safe and sound

One look at the following faces
And I gather
they are tired and hungry
and eager to part with the hunt
I let them
for it wasn’t their life

I get up
and run up to the summit of the hill
where a fresh new snow adorned its footsteps
Sunlight flashed in the extreme corner
horizon, I presumed
led the morning
towards my way

I picked up the trail on the hike up the peak
curving around the peak,
along the five feet wide road
laden with mud, snow and nature’s greens
I tried not to slip twice
and jump into the valley
that went deep
as I hiked up to the top

The slope subsided
and then came the plain
a saw her
sitting on a rock
dastardly breathing
Her eyes heavyset
and she raised her hand
in my direction
as if she wanted me to catch hold of her

I run up to her
pick up her hand
slit across the veins
she bleeds to death
in my lap
And her eyes,
smiled at me
mischievously,
with love and warmth
I close her eyes
lay her down on the cold mountain floor
and plant a kiss
on her forehead
it felt cold,
lifeless and still
Tears come running down
I wipe them off,
unconvincingly

I knew one thing
She did not die off of that slit veins
I threw her off the cliff
I threw her off the cliff
I knew..
