At the end of the day today, I will be saying goodbye to new and old friends of all ages. There will be hugs and tears and thank yous and promises to follow each other on Facebook. Today, blog readers, is the last day of summer camp. It is both a celebration and a traumatic occurrence at the same time. You would think that I would get used to these goodbyes after having been through this so many times, but no…I really haven’t.
I am ready to move on and begin the school year. I just have to jump over this hurdle first. I have to get through the laughter and tears and cherish the memories of Summer 2013 and somehow put it to rest. Please send me all of your good vibes and wishes to get through this moment today. If you run into me today, please just surround me with support, because it is on days like this one that I feel fragile.
When all is send and done, I will toast to a beautiful summer and will only smile when I think about the lovely times that are now almost in the past, but until then…..lord help me.
Donna Summer closed up so many disco dance halls with her song “Last Dance.” It was the final moment for so many evenings of celebration across the world, so I thought it would be the perfect song to close up the last day of camp, too. Click HERE to go to Youtube to hear it, and as we say in Hebrew….Shalom Chaverim, l’hitraot….Goodbye friends, we’ll see you again.
