Let the Bias Be!

Posted on the 07 November 2013 by Shruti2910
According to most wise people's ‘opinion’ our mainstream media is not only disgusting but also disgraceful. ‘News’ is conveniently replaced by a blended cocktail of toxics like ‘Expert opinions’ (Read: Single-sided opinion), sensationalism, hyperbole and debates which are nothing less than a drama with none aiming to provide information or opinions.
But I really support biased media! I mean, what is even wrong with media being biased? I think its the best thing broadcast and press can do to a nation!
Summarizing the political scenario of India, the ruling party is the UPA and the main opposition party is the BJP. The UPA has dominated the elections and they have been in power for the past 7 years now. Extremely corrupt and insensitive, are few of the features of this party. The opposition party has had its own fair share of troubles from within and is now looking to challenge the upcoming 2014 elections with a popular and charismatic new leader in one Narendra Modi.
Switch on channels like NDTV, IBN7 and very importantly our very infant India News and you'd have very many reasons to believe what a shining India Congress has given to us.
On the other hand, channels like ABP news will give you enough reasons to vote for BJP.
And yes that's it. There is no third front media house.
To back my 'opinion', let us look up at US mainstream media and its prejudice. If the Republican leaders say something absurd, MSNBC will make sure to crush those Senators alive on ‘Debates’. If a scam news releases for the Obama government, Fox News will make sure to pound on issue till the scam...Actually breaks out!
So precisely, none of the party is forgiven. One may have a news channel or paper to favor them but shall have a bunch of media houses who will..umm..burn them alive till something more grand doesn't come up to increase the viewership.
Let the bias be!
In a country like India where almost all the news channels favor a particular party, the sea-saw is already bent on one side. And a balanced and unbiased media – is just not a reasonable expectation!
So the solution is, let there be bias! Balance the sea-saw by throwing equal weight on other side.
Let us be empathetic to the channels that it isn’t just possible for them to portray BOTH perspectives of a story given the time eaten by ‘Expert Analysis’ who will make sure that they sub-title every single statement of the bill, scandal or a statement by the opposition.
Keeping the ancient and stone-aged media ethics aside, acknowledging a solution like this would be such a benefit to our country! Balancing the bias media by another bias media who will portray just another side of the story.
So yes, let the bias be!
Let the bias be! Let the bias be! Let the bias be! Let the bias be! Let the bias be! Let the bias be! Let the bias be!
