The biggest goal I have set in place for myself this year is becoming a morning person. I didn’t count January 1st as the starter day, because I had the day off from work, had been up late the night before celebrating with friends over Xbox dance games, and it was raining out. So, I decided to postpone my goals until the 2nd, where things started to get interesting. Wednesday actually wasn’t a hard day. I worked all day, read fifty pages of my current read, came home, read some blogs, and read articles for today’s post. Where it got interesting was yesterday when I decided I wanted to start getting up at 6:00 a.m. and going to bed at 10:00 p.m. every day. Well, technically, I decided that Wednesday, but whatever.
I actually didn’t manage to get up at 6:00, but I did get up at 6:28. I made Em and I breakfast, took a shower, got ready for work, then sat down to my computer to write a blog post, and managed to write 750 words of my book. The plan was to come home after work and revise a short story I’ve been working on, but since I got off late I decided not to push it. I don’t want to wear myself out before I get started good. After just one day, I’m coming to realize that I’ll need to pace myself in order to make this thing work, and not let myself feel like I have to pile everything I want to get done in one day. I have to remind myself that this isn’t me when I was in college. This is me, transcending college. :)
So, today I have some articles for you to read that may help you in the New Year. I know they were helpful for me, especially the one on taking things slow. Going out for walks sounds like nice breathing room, but I think I might wait till April for breathing room, as I’m not very friendly with the cold weather. Even by South Carolina’s standards of cold weather, which is definitely wimpier than, say, Boston.
