Yesterday, we were jam-packed with activity from the time the sun rose….
Until the time the sun set……
We began our day with a school-wide event for my children called “The Desert Dash.” This is the school’s very smart way to promote healthy living, and all of the students and their families meet at Tucson’s Sabino Canyon for a two-mile walk/run. The kids train for it at the school, but man—-we meet up early! Our call time was 6:45 am, which is my opinion is a pain in the you-know-what but something that also adds so much to making it memorable. Here’s my family taking “The Desert Dash” by storm!
The tradition is to go out for breakfast when it’s over, and it always makes me smile to see how many “Desert Dash” families show up at Brueggers Bagels just as we do.
When we returned home, it was only 10:00 am, and we all commented on how many more hours there are in a day when you get out of the house early. We had already done so much, and we came home for cleaning, chores, cooking, and I even squeezed in a cat nap.
Our day continued when a couple family friend’s kids coming over to join us for our nearby mall trick-or-treating. We headed over right away, and the kids went from store to store filling their treat bags with happy smiles and sugared energy. Thank you to La Encantada for doing it every year, because it certainly has become a Halloween tradition for us.
The kids played and watched movies when we came home until their parents came to pick them up. By the time they left, we were tired!!!! The day was fun and super looooong filled with awesome memories and tons of joy. That is why my song of the day is a lesser known song called “Long Day” from tragically deceased soul singer, Amy Winehouse. I still get chills when I hear her voice, and I will always love her music. So, click HERE to hear about her “Long Day, as I am waking up from a good night’s sleep filled with great dreams about a great long day of my own.
