I was going through my old blog, picking some of the articles I wrote from the blog. I cam across this photo I took of my daughter and my grandmother the summer of 2011. In December of that year my dear grandmother was diagnosed with lung cancer, and passed away almost a year after this picture was taken. My grandmother had a full life, and was a pack and a half a day smoker for most of her life; so we are blessed to have had her in our lives for as long as we did. But seeing this picture reminded me to make sure I let those that I love know they are loved - I would hate to never get the chance.
Here is something I posted on Facebook the day she died in her memory:
At least once today, please:Speak honestly, if a little too blunt.Love your family fiercely, but from a distance.
Let no one take advantage of you, and refuse to take advantage of anyone.
Rely only on yourself, but let others rely on you.
Refuse to go down with out a fight, but gracefully let go when it is time. In doing this you will honor a wonderful woman: S. Frances Kirk
