Hi everyone! Welcome to the third and final installment of the MMWST series. Today we're going to learn how to Maintain an Authentic Voice, read about Disclosure Policies, and explore options for Guest Blogging.
1. Maintaing an Authentic Voice - This challenge comes much easier to some than others. Communicating via the Internet is essentially leaving the representation of yourself up to the interpretation of others. That's hard! Especially if you have a soft heart like me. The way I combat this very blurred issue is to stay true to myself 90% of the time. The remaining 10% is split between, "letting go" and standing up for myself when the time truly calls for it.
For example; among the offers I received today, two were for pet food. Without realizing it, I had written up the first ad and submitted it. I felt confident in the choice of this product. Before I wrote the second ad, I clicked on the provided link to learn more about the product. (I do this for all ads before submitting them.) I noticed quickly that it was 100% contradictory to the first ad I prepared.
In order for me to maintain an authentic voice, I imagined my Twitter followers scanning my feed the next day reading two ads sent out by ME that were in direct conflict with one another. Personally, I would question someone's purpose if I were to see something like that. And being a huge advocate of the Golden Rule, I chose NOT to publish the second ad. Maintaining my voice is far more important than any money I will earn.
2. Disclosure Policies - I will not go into too much detail about this but to say that Sponsored Tweets is in full compliance with FTC regulations. The platform has built-in programming to ensure compliance system wide. I've been party to numerous discussions about whether or not disclosing is needed for sponsored tweets. To this I say, better safe than sorry. Not to mention, ethical.
3. Guest Posting - One great feature Sponsored Tweets has for its members is the chance to guest post. Though I've applied, I have not been contacted about this feature. However, topics are Twitter related, i.e. creating/optimizing and social media promotion in general. If you think you've got the chops, I would recommend filling out their application. The worst they can say is no!
So there you have it! If you missed them, here are Part 1, and Part 2.
