I hope each and every one of you has a fabulous holiday season.
I shopped and wrapped and tied presents with ribbon. But, I did not do one ounce of decorating. I just couldn't get into it. With a convergence of sadness on my family in 2011 (the death of a great uncle, great grandmother, uncle and my most precious grandpa), a lot of stress at work, and the aching of 500 miles of distance weighing on my heart... I just could not get into the mood.
And so, I bring you a picture of Christmas, 2007, featuring my old cat Tsar. This picture is dedicated to Miss Elle Woods, who LFab lost this week.God uses all things for the good of those who love him. This holiday season in my house may be bleak, but it is focused. I have raised more prayers to the Lord in the last few days than possibly any Christmas season in the past 26 years. So, if any of you have feelings of loss and hurt and loneliness weighing on your heart, remember that Jesus was born and died for *you.* He has not forgotten you. He is by your side.
These two songs have really spoken to my heart this week while I think about the fact that Jesus was born to a young teenage girl, in the middle of a barn. I'm sure that's not at all how Mary pictured her engagement to Joseph.
Let this Christmas be focused on He who can heal all of your hurts.
