Missing You, #882

Posted on the 10 January 2014 by Juliezaz1 @juliezaz1

I was at the grocery store yesterday, and a little girl was waving hi, her eyes full of recognition and excitement.  She whispered to her mother, “That’s my music teacher.”  It’s not a strange interaction for me.  This sort of thing happens all the time when you teach music at so many schools.

Here’s the thing though…I’m really no longer her music teacher.  I left the job at her preschool in order to work at my current job.  This is my first week in my new job, and obviously, this little girl was not understanding that I am not returning to her school.

It suddenly occurred to me that I’m not the only one in a transition.  I’m feeling a bit guilty.  Did I really leave so many children in a state of confusion?  I had been at those schools for a long time, and when I said goodbye to the kids, I had assumed they understood.

Obviously they did not, or at least, that one little girl didn’t get it.

I just want them all to know that when I left, I left caring about all of them deeply.  I still care, and it was sad for me to see a child not understanding.

So, my song of the day is my message to all of those sweet innocent children.  ”I’m Missing You” by Diana Ross is how I feel.  I do miss these children, and they should know it.  Click HERE to listen to one of Diana Ross’s best songs, in my humble opinion, and let it be known that even though I’m loving my new job, I still adore each and every one of my students.  It is as heartfelt as this song is.  Hugs, dear children, and all my love, too…..
