My Epic Failure at Making Freakin’ Christmas Memories…

Posted on the 20 December 2013 by Martinisandminivans @martinisandmini

Whenever someone whines in my family about having to be in photos, I usually say, “Smile dammit, we are making freakin’ memories.”  Ok, ok, so I don’t say that to the little ones – but definitely the adults rolling their eyes in my family.

So in my attempt to make freakin’ memories – I purchased one of those “make your own” gingerbread kits. It came with walls and a roof and such with directions that said we just had to put it together with icing.

Sounds simple, right?

Yeah. Not so much.

Things like this are never what you imagine they’ll be. Instead of including my kids in this “fun” experience, I end up yelling at them to stop eating the icing and stealing pieces of candy we are supposed to use for decorating. They are miserable, I’m miserable. And my poor husband is attempting to work voodoo royal icing magic on that damn house.

At after 30 minutes of a pathetic time filled with bickering, anger and frustration – we finally completed the house. And 5 seconds later, this happened.

So we did what any super creative person who just faced a devastation does. We laughed our asses off and shot royal icing from the tube into each other’s mouths. Making freakin’ memories. That’s what the holidays are all about.
