My World Turned Upside Down

Posted on the 26 May 2013 by Fizz @ThePoetsAlley
My World Turned Upside DownHis body lays still,
An oxygen mask on his face,
The presence of the day,
Can be seen on him everywhere.
It was just another day,
He getting ready for his work,
Me jabbing to get him out of the house,
He promised to come home early.
All that I got was a devastating call,
In that split second,
My whole world turned,
Upside down.
I remember the rush,
And me praying,
Rest was just the numbness,
I couldn’t feel anything else.
I wanted to be by his side,
But was asked to sit,
And while they operated on him,
Our moments together, flashed before me.
After a long wait,
I crept in slowly,
Not knowing how I would react,
He was sleeping like a baby.
And for the first time since,
I cried,
I held his hand,
Not wanting him to ever let go.
