Last night I celebrated my grandmothers 80th birthday with most of my extended family.

I don’t know if I enjoy anything more than hanging out with my family!
We went to the Newbridge Cafe which is a steak house in Chelsea, Mass. It was a great! A really nice, local joint.

We started the night with a giant anti-pasta salad.

I definitely got my fix of meat, sugar and dairy before I go vegan for a month! After talking with my family and everyone’s comments I decided to give vegan a try for the month of March. It is not going to be easy, especially because next week I am traveling to California for work, but I want to do it, so I am going to do it! :)

And now it’s Foodie PenPal time! Thank you Lindsay!

I was so excited when my Foodie PenPal package showed up, I sat on the floor of my office, like a kid on Christmas morning, to unpack it!

I just have to say, these are MY FAVORITE types of food to eat. I LOVE going to the bins at the grocery store and eating all the difference yummy trail mix, nuts, chocolate covered goodness! This Foodie PenPal package was complete with all my favorite snacks. I had to stop myself from snacking to take pictures of the food. Everything is now gone!

My favorite treat was the Curry Coconut Curry Cashews. They kind of scared me at first, but they turned out to be super sweet and creamy. I snack on almonds most days but I have never tried Almond Roasted Marcona’s.  They were really good, but really addicting. I find almonds filling and satisfying but with these I just wanted to keep eating them. The dark chocolate covered cherries hit the spot! I love anything if chocolate is involved. SAM_0451
Sugar coated dried pineapple and Holiday Chai tea… yes please!

Thank you to Laura for sending me all this great food! I truly enjoyed every single thing. If you want to check out what I sent to my PenPal, head over to Diana’s blog, Veggie Next Door.

In case you’re a interested in participating in the Foodie PenPal  program is all about:

-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month. *US Residents only please at this time- hopefully we can expand soon!*
