Fall is starting to make it's entrance into our neck of the woods. Cooler temperatures, especially at night, make for delightful sleeping with the windows open, snuggling under the down comforter. Though I admit it's not one of my favorite seasons, it does have it perks...fresh crisp apples, cider, pumpkins, hayrides, football, Thanksgiving and the most incredibly painted fall foliage everywhere. Oh n did I mention the return of boots, sweaters and scarves? YES!
What fall has brought to mind for me this year, is the seasons of a life. As I thankfully approach another birthday, it occurred to me that at my age, I'm quite possibly in the fall of my life. As one would imagine, spring is for the young, the new, the sprouting and branching out, finding your own way. Summer, for the vibrant, vivid, robust time of life; raising a family maybe. Fall for the slowing down, learning to relax and beginning to mellow stage of life; the empty nest for example. And finally winter, a time that leans toward the sagely, wise, learned life, with grandchildren perhaps and things to pass down to the family.
What's important to remember is that every season whether it's our favorite or not has purpose and beauty in it. Every moment of time we are given should be cherished and lived to the best of our ability. Nothing is guaranteed but what is given is a blessing to be appreciated.
