On {semi-step} Parenting

I think you guys know the situation with the Boyfriend, and his daughter... but if you don't I'll summarize.  The Boyfriend has a daughter. She's a sweet little thing and I love her to death. We've been together two months longer than she took her first breath on this earth. We see her every other week, but we'd love to see her every day.
On {semi-step} Parenting We got to spend last weekend with her. It's an exhausting thing to love and watch and be responsible for a little person. It's somehow a lot different than baby sitting someone else's kid. Maybe it's because you're the one who changes the diaper all. day. long. You're the one putting her down for a nap, or telling her not to put dangerous things in her mouth, or standing next to her while she brushes her teeth to make sure she doesn't start running around with a death stick in her mouth. And for goodness sake, don't give anything to her that's not in a child-proof container!

Whatever the reason may be, it's the best kind of exhaustion ever. Because watching this sweet little girl love her Daddy just fills my heart. And following them around Cabellas while he tells her the name of all of the "deer" (which is what she thinks all animals mounted on walls are called), brings me tears of joy and smiles from deep in my soul.

And waking up to this sweet little face, snuggled in her fleece pajamas and hair all astray... and seeing the happiness and joy it all brings to the Boyfriend's soul...

...makes every spilled bag of animal crackers, and diaper changes in a mall bathroom, and tears when it's nap time totally worth it. Love.
