Out & About with Stream of Consciousness Sunday

Posted on the 04 November 2012 by Juliejordanscott @juliejordanscot

Perfect moment for some stream of consciousness writing.

SocsundaynewToday we are free to write wherever the words lead us.

This week I have been venturing out without the protection of a band aid to cover the effects of my recent facial surgery for my melanoma. It has been an education in grace in how I respond to people. I had no idea so many people would have so much advice or say so many… well, under normal circumstances not exactly appropriate, certainly not polite, things.

I keep hearing my Mom lecturing my sister when we were kids, “Think before you speak!”

Sometimes I think I spend too much time in thought before speaking up but really, people, my scar is still fairly fresh – at nearly eight weeks? – and the fact I am out-and-about is, I believe, quite a feat of courage.

I go back to my doctor on Thursday.

I look forward to it because I have no idea what is normal as far as healing is concerned.

Yesterday I actually came in contact with my sits bones. I also have no idea how that is spelled and until yesterday, I didn’t know precisely how they feel. Now, I do.

I attended a remarkable yoga class. It was the least conventional, gym-fitness style yoga AND it was the most practical yoga I have ever practiced. I am going to attend another session Tuesday and I literally can not wait.

I keep hearing, as I move about, the instructor’s voice. Results? I am consciously moving my body in the world instead of unconsciously moving my body in the world.

What a blessing! And apparently the timer thinks so, too, because she just buzzed to tell me to stop typing!

This was my 5 minute Stream of Consciousness Sunday post. It’s five minutes of your time and a brain dump. Want to try it? Here are the rules…

  • Set a timer and write for 5 minutes.
  • Write an intro to the post if you want but don’t edit the post. No proofreading or spellchecking. This is writing in the raw.
  • Publish it somewhere. Anywhere. The back door to your blog if you want. But make it accessible.
  • Add the Stream of Consciousness Sunday badge to your post (find it at Jana's Thinking Place). .
  • Link up your post there, too.
  • Visit your fellow bloggers and show some love.
