Paranoid Android, #1235

Being a blog writer, you have to have some basic understanding of technology, but truth be told, my computer skills are really pretty mediocre.  I know how to use WordPress, so colleagues have the misconception that I’m computer savvy.  Truly, I just know one program and have lots to learn in other areas just like most people in the non-technological business world.

Next week, I need to give a presentation, and I just knew that I should be presenting it in Powerpoint.  A Powerpoint presentation would help my presentation look more polished,  and so, even though I’ve never used Powerpoint before, I decided to check it out and see if I could just figure it out on my own.

Holy moly!  I am so proud of myself!  I figured out Powerpoint with no trouble at all.  It was really self explanatory and easy to use.  All of these years, I’ve been so envious of people who have had the skill to use Powerpoint, and now that I’ve knocked out one presentation, I’m realizing how very little skill is actually involved with it.

It makes me wonder just how many other practices there are that I could conquer so easily without very much effort.  Is it possible that all that’s needed in life is a little bit of time and some good determination to overcome many obstacles?  It’s a great thought, and I hope I can remember it when difficulties present themselves to me in the future.

So….my song of the day is from Radiohead.  Their “Paranoid Android” describes the fear of technology when really it is just the fear of the unknown that holds us back.
