Photo of 2013: Quirky Shopping Cart Series = Infinite Growth of Personal Consciousness

Posted on the 16 December 2013 by Juliejordanscott @juliejordanscot

Today at Project Reverb we were asked this:

There’s the old saying that a photo is worth 1,000 words.  Give us a photo with that impact that sums up some significant event of your 2013

While my photos are not a specific, one time event, they are a catalog of images portraying my growing consciousness of the world around me which in my mind is an event of infinite proportions.

I made a collage of several photos in my Quirky Shopping Cart Series. I have been taking photos of shopping carts throughout the year. I don't touch them - I photograph them as found. There is so much depth of story in shopping carts if we are open to them.

Quirky Shopping Cart Series 2013 I have been fascinated by shopping carts this year. Consumerism, Poverty, Community, Resourcesfulness - many themes.

I wonder if you have noticed shopping carts in your area as I have? If you have photos (or would like to take some in the near future) I would love to hear about it. All my shopping cart photos right now are from Kern County. When I travel in 2014 I will take more photos as I go. It is intriguing where you will find them once your eyes open to what they are actually seeing.
